description :
Onkyo's Hi-Fi revolution gathers pace with the TX-8050. This finely sculpted stereo receiver delivers two channels of audio precision to entertainment spaces where you don't need advanced video processing or multichannel audio. Analog A/V inputs on the TX-8050 are augmented by digital optical and coaxial audio inputs, a Universal Port for Onkyo peripherals, and a front-side USB input for direct digital connection of iPod /iPhone . The receiver's network capability, meanwhile, lets you stream internet radio or play audio from a PC or network audio storage device. Behind the smart aluminum façade lies a massive transformer and large capacitors that provide clean amplification power and help push performance well beyond the norm.

Review :
The TX-8050 is a stereo audio receiver from the Onkyo company. Featuring 80 watts of output power in each of its two channels, this model natively supports many leading internet radio and music streaming services. Users can remotely access and organize content from vTuner, Last.fm, Sirius XM Internet Radio, Mediafly, Pandora, Slacker, Napster and Rhapsody, with additional streaming available from PC computers and network storage devices. The inclusion of Onkyos own WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology) helps to improve signal-to-noise ratio and eliminate peaking caused by variable audio formats, thereby boosting signal strength to maximize stereo width. The company has also included a "universal" device port for simple connectivity to peripheral devices like tuners and docks, alongside a front-mounted USB port specifically designed for Apple iDevices. In addition, DLNA technology enables wireless synchronization across a common internet network, making it possible to send audio content back and forth via programs like ... PROS: (1) audio output is clean and detailed, no distortion noticeable (2) enough power output to fill a medium to large room in the home (3) controls are well designed, dont take very long to learn (4) setup is easy, everything follows a simple logic that is fairly intuitive (5) remote control is comfortable to hold and to work with, one-handed operation is comfortable ... CONS: (1) antenna is a little weak, wont work everywhere and may need to be replaced or augmented (2) No HDMI or component video in/out.
