The Sony MDR-NC7 are over-the-head style headphones designed specifically for noise cancellation. The headphones feature 38 mm driver units combined with Neodymium magnets to reproduce strong bass and clear treble sound. They are capable of blocking up to 87.4% of ambient noise to provide a quieter listening environment. The MDR-NC7 are designed with a foldable headband, swivelling earcups, and come with a carrying pouch for easy storage and portability. They also have padded ear cushions for additional comfort and come with a dual jack adapter for use with in-flight music services. The headphone cord has a built-in battery box with an on/off switch for controlling the noise cancelling feature. The battery life of the unit is approximately 50 hours and although a battery is required when using noise cancellation the headphones can still be used without a battery. Although they are very similar in design to Sonys MDR-NC6 headphones, the MDR-NC7s block a higher percentage of ambient noise compared to Sonys MDR-NC6 headphones. THE GOOD: The Sony MDR-NC7 Noise Canceling headphones are very affordable and the earpads are soft. Package includes an airline adapter and a travel pouch, and the headphones are nice-looking. THE BAD: The headband of the Sony MDR-NC7 Noise Canceling headphones tends to chafe, and bass is lacking. Noise canceling isnt the most effective weve heard. THE BOTTOM LINE: The Sony MDR-NC7 Noise Canceling headphones are an OK option for travel fiends operating on a strict budget.
