The Netgear ProSafe GS108 is an 8-port Gigabit switch featuring a 60% lower power consumption rate, courtesy of Netgear Green technology. It’s essentially a larger version of the 5-port GS105. Like its peer, the GS108 utilizes an auto-switching Ethernet connection to seamlessly integrate 10BASE-T Ethernet, 100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet, and 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet devices without sacrificing performance. Plus it too supports both Windows and Macintosh operating systems via plug-n-play technology, and includes AutoUplink technology that automatically makes proper adjustments for different types of network cabling. CONS: (1) there are some units in the series that were shipped out faulty, will need to be returned to Netgear for a replacement within the first year and a half or so
