The Logitech Optical Gaming Mouse G400 is an entry level wired mouse designed for gaming. It replaces the ever popular and well renowned MX518 as Logitechs budget gaming option. The exterior shape is kept the same with a change of colour scheme. Button placements are also identical with two thumb buttons, scroll wheel, and 3 buttons for various functions. The optical tracking sensor has been upgraded from 1800dpi to 3600dpi with four level of dpi adjustments from 400 to 3600dpi. Other specifications include a max acceleration allowance of 25G, 16bit/axis USB data format, and a polling rate of 1000 times per second. The Logitech Optical Gaming Mouse G400 offers solid upgrades over the original model, but with the original MX518s price dropping to a bargain range, whether the G400s upgrades are worth the premium is another question. Features / Specifications Tracking Resolution: 400–3600 dpi Image processing: 5.8 megapixels/second Max. acceleration: 25G ... PROS: (1) Builds on the popular Logitech MX518 model - ideal for PC gamers who previously owned this model (2) Scroll wheel is much improved as compared to previous Logitech models - very quiet scrolling with virtually no audible clicking sound (3) DPI adjustability is fast and precise - 3600 capability is twice that of the MX518, with 1 millisecond processing speeds (4) Unit automatically memorizes mappings based on individual games - very helpful for users who map different custom controls for each title (5) Works great for general web browsing in addition to gaming - side buttons can be configured to prompt forward/back page prompts for added convenience ... CONS: (1) Number of customizable buttons is somewhat misleading - mouse wheel and standard left/right buttons are counted as part of the 8 that are mentioned (2) Not recommended for Mac users - OS X support is minimal, lacking everything but scroll wheel and side buttons
