The Ariens Compact 24 is a mid-cost snowblower with a clearing width of 24". The Briggs and Stratton 205cc OHV 900 Series engine offers six forward speeds and two reverse speeds. The snow chute of the Compact 24 can throw snow up to forty feet, and the 205º Quick Turn chute control allows you to choose the direction in which you launch it. The 13" x 4” Directional snow tread tires of this snowblower are designed to perform in slippery conditions. This snowblower differs from the lower cost Compact 22 in that it has a more powerful engine, a 24" clearing width, and a more compact 17.5" housing height (as opposed to the Compact 22s 20" housing height). However, it lacks the higher cost Compact 26s 26" clearing width more powerful Briggs and Stratton 249cc OHV 1150 Series engine, and slightly larger 13" x 5" directional snow tread tires. The Ariens ... PROS: (1) Requires considerably less physical strain than manual and shovel-style counterparts - ideal for older users (may prevent heart attack or other serious injury) (2) Excellent option for users with limited storage space - many larger blowers are too large to store in an average suburban home (3) Works very well in snow-heavy locations - maintains smooth, reliable operation even in deep, rough banks (4) Knobbed tires are firm and well-balanced - provides safe, consistent tracking across slippery and uneven terrain (5) Electric starter mechanism is remarkably better than standard rope-style systems - starts within 1 or 2 presses every time ...
