Review :
The Denon AVR-1712 is a 7.1 channel AV receiver for working with high-definition content. This is the only model in the series that has Component video inputs and outputs, and expands on the 5.1 channel Denon AVR-1612 model through the use of additional HDMI inputs, an RS-232 port for third party remotes, and the increased RMS power rating of 90 watts per channel. The Denon AVR-1912 model that follows has most of the same features, but also includes IR-remote support, more analog audio inputs, and PC connectivity. HDMI v1.4a support is offered in all 3 models, which enables 3D video support and an audio return channel. Deep Color/x.v.Color support is also provided for a wider color gamut than standard systems. The Audyssey MultiEQ system is built in as well, which automatically adjusts the speakers based on the acoustics of the room. Features 7 discrete 90-watt channels 3D video format support, with ... PROS: (1) Audyssey MultEQ makes speaker setup a breeze. (2) GUI interface makes initial setup and day-to-day use painless. (3) Cinema Equalizer makes film audio more balanced with less treble emphasis. (4) Very fully featured for the price point. ... CONS: (1) No networking capability, wired or otherwise. (2) Lacks any native iPod integration or even an auxiliary port for external device playback. (3) No USB ports for flash drive media playback.
